An access log contains a record of all the files which have been requested by the visitors while browsing your site. The list is comprehensive, so in case you have a page with 2 embedded images, for instance, all of the three files shall be in the log, not just the page. An access log typically includes the date, the OS, the Internet browser and the IP address for every single file in human-readable form, so you can get an idea about the hottest files on your Internet site. The log, that's also often called "raw data", is an addition to the web statistics which you commonly get with a hosting account, not a substitute. An illustration why you might need this sort of a log is if you would like to use some software on your computer system to prepare a report about the website’s overall performance, but you don't want to use the typical graphs and tables that come with the server-generated website statistics.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel features a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. Once you sign in to your cloud hosting account and go to this section, you shall find a list of all the domains and subdomains that you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to each domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with simply a mouse click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You shall still have the ability to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it shall not take more than several mouse clicks to activate the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The function could be enabled through the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this can be done independently for every single domain or subdomain which you have within your account. As soon as you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. A single click shall trigger the log generation and another one will deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great ease. A Download link within the same section will enable you to save the created content as a text file, which you could then use on your computer. Whether or not the logs are disabled, you will still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
